I recently found myself playing with the idea of crystalline shapes. After a page in my sketchbook of relatively ordinary crystal shapes, I began to wonder what would happen if I broke a few rules.
The world does not need you, and

Personal project: Thank you card
Here are some in-process photos of a card I recently created for a friend.
Humans are always creative, no matter what their circumstances. The nature of their creativity is shaped by their circumstances, and I’ve been wondering today if that shape ranges from playfulness at one end of an imaginary scale to resourcefulness at the other end.
How many people have told you that you’re one in a million? that there’s no one like you in the whole world?

Design: the power of novelty, the pitfalls of fashion
Discerning between the positive potential of novelty and the dangerous traps of fashion is tricky. There’s no formula for maintaining the necessary vigilance.
Your brain can do some pretty amazing stuff (as well as some incredibly aggravating things). You are actually way cooler than your brain, which is simply a very fantastic thinking tool.
As we mature, we have the opportunity to get to know what our unique brains can and cannot do. It never ends.
I’m really happy with this illustration I did for the ongoing story project, I am not actually a butterfly.
Here’s a look at how its parts and pieces came together.
