Viewport is a collaboration between poet Melody Derrick and artist Penina Finger, one of two works inspired by the Artemis II mission to circle the moon. We had both followed the live mission, texting back and forth—Penina in Portland, Oregon and Melody in Gig Harbor, Washington—as moments during the mission rippled through the watching world. Then, when Melody saw the call for submissions, the topic we’d explore together was obvious and immediate. Viewport was published in the Summer 2026 issue of the engine(idling literary journal.
